Text

Cable Message Received from Paris, January 15, 1918.

Please communicate the following to H. P. Davison:
Have had trouble with three of our Canteen workers who came in last group. Trouble seems to have arisen from fact that they are totally unprepared for discomforts and inconveniences. I request that hereafter every worker that comes to Europe be given complete and thorough information as to conditions here. They must be ready to make every sacrifice to work in regions where living conditions are hard and available quarters often make it necessary for two or more to live in one room. Only women of the most robust health and finest spirit should be allowed to come.

Perkins.
