Text

My dear Fitz

We write in heartiest congratulations on your Lieutenancy.

You seem to have had the impression that I thought you could not make good. I never had that impression for a moment. I only differed with you in judgment as to the vision of the course you were pursuing in leaving the Interstate Commerce Commission and seeking a commission in the Army.

We are all very glad and all unite in sending affectionate messages.

Love to all. In great haste.
Sincerely yours,

Woodrow Wilson

Lieutenant Fitzwilliam Woodrow,
Mars Hill, North Carolina.
