Text

GEORGE CREEL,
CHAIRMAN
(Enc)

My dear Mr. President

Mrs. Whitehouse is now in Paris, finding it impossible to work in Switzerland on account of the attitude of the Legation. She is helping Kearney now who is sadly in need of expert aid. While I feel very bitterly about her treatment, I still think it unwise to insist upon her return to Switzerland for we cannot afford to have the effect of division, even if it were not the case that the Legation has discredited her so thoroughly.

I enclose her letter, not as a complaint, but entirely for your amusement, to be read when you have a spare moment.

Respectfully,
George Creel
Chairman.

The President,
The White House,
Washington, DC
