Text

THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON

My dear Fosdick

You ask me to "run over" some night this week to see "Turn to the Right" played at Camp Meade, but on what can I "run over?" The roads are destroyed between here and Camp Meade, and it would be a veritable adventure to attempt them at night. To go by train is really rather difficult and, worse than all, I never can be sure long enough ahead that I can get away.

I admire the work you are doing and wish sincerely that I could do what you suggest.

Cordially and faithfully yours,
Woodrow Wilson

Mr. Raymond B. Fosdick,
War Department.
