Special Despatch to THE EVENING SUN.
WASHINGTON, July 2.--Gordon Auchincloss , son-in-low of Col. E. M. House, close personal friend and confidential adviser of the President, is one of those who have been exempted from the draft by request of the State Department, it developed to-day.

In a letter to Speaker Champ Clark, Secretary of State Lansing said the name of Mr. Auchincloss had inadvertently been omitted from the list of those for whom exemptions had been asked. Secretary Lansing said Mr. Auchincloss was in the draft age, that he had entered the Government service since June 5, 1917, but he did not give the specific reason why Mr. Auchincloss had been exempted.

G. Rowland Shaw, whose residence was not given, was also omitted from the previous list.
