May I congratulate you on the completely successful result of your wise treatment of the German appeal for an armistice? It has resulted in the change in the form of government in Germany which you have insisted on in your addresses. Within two weeks, two emperors have lost their thrones and the subjects have become free peoples.
The dignity with which you have conducted the affairs of your great office and your great self-restraint in the face of unreasonable and intemperate criticism have awakened my admiration. America was fortunate in choosing you to put her message to the world.
May you be Divinely guided in the counsel and advice you will be asked to give in the period of rebuilding and reconstruction, so that the new-found liberties of the Austrian, Hungarian, German, Russian and other peoples may be protected and put on a firm and enduring foundation.
LW*GMK
Always sincerely yours,
Hon. Woodrow Wilson,
President of the United States,
White House,
Washington, D. C.
