Officer of General Muir's staff, 28th division, just returned from Fere reports that it did not seem possible for an army to gather as many guns and as much ammunition as the Germans had abandoned in their retreat which has been so hasty that they had not time to bury the dead and ground was so covered with corpses that it was impossible to advance without walking over them and further, that advance of 28th division was so rapid that they had been without food for 50 hours, their position being such a distance from nearest railhead. This division had 2,500 casualties in two brigades and our hospitals in Chateau-Thierry district were so crowded that many could be treated only superficially.

Line remains unchanged from yesterday.
