Text

Dear Mr. President

May I be permitted to take the liberty of adding my deepest congratulations to the many which you are receiving this morning?Your address was so splendid, so inspiring, so magnificent in every respect that you have already made men better and made a better country of us.
You have shown us all the true light and every loyal American is proud to follow and serve you in the great struggle that is approaching.
I feel about it so intensely that words seem futile, yet I want you to know of my intense admiration for you in this great service which I feel you have done for the whole world.
With assurances of respect
I am, my dear Mr. President,

faithfully yours
William Phillips
