My dear Mr. Waterhouse

I am informed that both the Federal Department of Agriculture and the State central boards of food production and conservation are giving very careful thought to the problem of assuring a sufficient farm labor supply, especially during the harvest season when the load is heavy. The Department of Agriculture has arranged to station one of its competent agents in each State to work in close cooperation with the State central board and with the subordinate organizations. The suggestion of the Washington State Harvesters' League that people in the different localities who can render service in the field arrange to take their vacations and to assist the farmers during the harvest season is an exceedingly interesting one. I commend the proposal of the League in this particular and hope that some relief may be furnished where it is needed through the movement. Any citizen who helps to feed the Nation and the world at this time is rendering a valiant public service.

Sincerely yours,
Woodrow Wilson

Mr. Frank Waterhouse,
Seattle, Washington.
