Text

My dear Wilds

23 August, 1918. Alas, it is literally impossible for me to comply with the request of your letter just received, strongly as my heart prompts me to do so. It is most interesting to me that you should have had so long and successful a service in one church, and I hope that as the years go by your hold upon your people will be even more strengthened and the usefulness of the church even more widely extended.
Pardon this short letter, but you know how sincere my feeling is, though briefly expressed.

Cordially and faithfully yours,
Woodrow Wilson
