Text

My darling little sisters,

Hamburg-Amerika Linie.I thought that I would write a last note to you, to mail at Naples. We spent to-day in Palermo, and tomorrow we will spend in Naples, and then we will sail straight home to America.
I love the sea voyage, but I can hardly wait to see you all. I forgot, or didn't realize when I began this letter that you Jessie will not be at home to receive this it,letter so I guess Nellie will forward it to you. It won't get to America much before I do. I wish that Jessie was going to be in Princeton to greet me too. I will miss her dreadfully. I wish neither of us had to go back to college at all. I don't want to a bit.
Have you been in PalermoJessie? I think the coast of Sicily is beautiful.
We went to the cathedral at Monreale, and the palace chapel, both of which are almost covered inside with most beautiful mosaic.
We had a very pleasant day in Palermo, and I did not mind the heat at all, but we were very careful not to get into the sun much.
I am perfectly crazy about Italian scenery, as I think I said in my letter to Mother. Our vegetation will seem very spare, after the vine covered hills of Italy.
The Prinz Oscar will sail arrive in New YorkHarbour on the evening of the third, but after sunset, so it will not go further than Staten Island until the morning of the fourth.
I suppose you have read in the paper about the crazy man, who through threw himself overboard from our ship. It is bad enough to read about such things, but to have a thing like that happen so near you is dreadful. It is awful to think about. He thought that everybody on the ship was trying to kill him, so he killed himself instead—wasn't that awful?Well, I must say Ggoodnight and; for, evidently from the looks of this letter, I am sleepy. Goodbye till we meet again in dear America.
With love for all the dear ones, and kisses x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x for the two little sisters, I am,

Your loving sister,
Margaret.
