My darling Jessie

I thank you for your little letter, received this morning, and send a quick reply to tell you that I love you dearly. I think of you and all the others in the dear home at Princeton, every day many times; and long to see you, your dear sisters and your dearer mother.
I am pleased to learn that your father and Stockton are having such a nice time in England. They certainly deserve to have.
I am getting along here as pleasantly as possible, among many old and cordial friends who have never forgotten me as their pastor. My boarding-house is kept by one of these friends, and she makes me quite comfortable in a large room and at a very well-supplied table.
This morning I had a letter from your aunt Annie. She is at “Mar's Hill,” North Carolina, (near Asheville), where she thinks she will remain until late in September, when she may go to New York again. She says that your little cousin (Annie) is getting on bravely in that bracing climate. George is with her, but expects to leave soon for New York where he is compelled to be by 1st September.
Please give my dearest love to all. Tell dear Nellie that I sent her a letter last week, in reply to hers; but as you do not mention it perhaps she did not receive what I sent.

Your affectionate
Grandfather
